Project: Tasogare Yume (Twilight Dreams)

Tasogare Yume (Twilight Dreams) is an episodic Sims story, influenced by anime. The setting is sorta-Japan... things in the setting are based at least loosely on places and character types I've seen in both anime and Japanese drama shows. It's a filtered-through-Westerner-eyes Japan, though, and I make no claims that it's accurate. The character style is also based on anime.

*Notes on second video

Video #2 is the opening sequence to the anime that would have depicted Miho's former life with her friends, as revealed in episodes 3 and 4. In fact, it's the "anime" I originally was going to make, inspired by the song used in the video.

You see, one day, I was listening to the music from DDR and "DIVE" came up. My immediate reaction was that it would make an excellent opening to an anime show, and I started to wonder what that anime would be about. I knew it would involve magical girls (the song just seemed to cry out for showing transformation sequences), and I began to flesh out what the characters would be like, while trying to figure out if I could depict shoujo mahou anime in a Sims story.

While I was pondering that, I suddenly wondered: What happens to magical girls after their series are over? What if they didn't have their powers anymore? Would they just go on with their lives?

Twilight Dreams is about those things, and more.

But in the course of figuring out Miho's current story, I had to fill in more details about the former one... and since "DIVE" had been the impetus to do this project, I still wanted to use it. So I decided to make the opening to the prequel, as well. It's meant to give you a decent overview of the girls' personalities as well as supplement the feel of the setting.

Note that Miho would not have been the main character in that story. Nori (blue-black) would've been.
