Okay, see, I got Zoo Tycoon 2 for Christmas, so I spent a few days playing that, and then we got Guild Wars, which is highly addictive, which is most of what I've been doing since the beginning of the month.
So I'm just now re-installing the Sims. I did get through Seasons (including two stuff packs) installed, and paused there to check something about Body Shop; you might recall I was having serious issues with compression. Well, Seasons doesn't have it as bad but it's still visibly over-compressed, so doing clothes will be a little more time-consuming than it should be. On the plus side, I figured out how to compress textures via simPE, and now that there's a new simPE and all (which I still need to install) that should work out.
I still haven't loaded up the game to see how it plays (or doesn't) with my widescreen. I suspect there's no "Native 1900x1200" resolution but we'll see. Also not sure what that'll do with screenshots. What I think I might do is try to get my monitor/vidcard software to run it at one of the non-widescreen resolutions but with black bars; it's theoretically possible, but I haven't tried it yet. Otherwise I can try windowed mode (ugh).
Going through my transferred files, it appears a couple directories didn't get copied off the old machine. I don't think there's anything vital in those (I had Elsewhere Backups of the two files that would've mattered most for going forward), but I still need to hook up the old computer again and get them at some point. I have all my downloads and created custom content though, so I can just put those right in when I install BV.
This morning I woke up with pictures in my head of how the opening of the first release of Tasogare Yume will look, so I just fully scripted it, as in, "here's what the shots will be; here are the captions". It's... extremely short, compared to legacy album releases. I don't know if the later ones will need to be longer or not, but all told there's basically going to be, um, 20 story slides, plus filler, and #2, which I'm working on now, probably will roughly match that. I don't know if that means I should cut down the releases and combine some, though my pacing instinct says no, it works for the model I'm going for, but hopefully the readers won't feel gypped.
On the plus side, if I can get enough scripted out beforehand (I want to work a release ahead in terms of scripting/shooting) I guess it'll come out pretty quickly.
Still, I am stubborn and want to do some clothing first. I probably won't get to doing any of that today or over the weekend, though we'll see. And I still have to build the 'sets', and shoot some background material in the alternate neighborhood... so it's still gonna be a while, I guess.
In the meantime, I've been catching up on people's legacies, though I haven't left comments for everyone. I promise I'm reading, though, even if I can't think of anythign to say!
My eyes are bugging me, which is the main reason I don't think I'll get anything done today. (The weekend is no doubt goign to be mostly about Guild Wars.) I really didn't get enough sleep. So I'm going to finish up #2 and then head back to bed for a couple hours.
